A jövő közgyűjteményei: kreatív könyvtári alkalmazkodás.

Dematerializálódó, virtualizálódó világunkban a könyv éppen azért marad a tudás szimbóluma, mert nincs, ami jelentésveszteség nélkül átvehetné a helyét. Az online tájékozódás korában a könyvtárak jövője sem azért biztosított, mert szolgáltatásai az intézményhez köthetőek, hanem mert a célokhoz közösséget rendelő helyszínek fogyatkoznak, diverzitásuk csökken. A meglévő kulturális, tudományos és memóriaintézmények szerepe így gazdagodva, helyszínként új igényeket kiszolgálva erősödhet, miközben tértől független szolgáltatásaikban is építhetnek a hálózatiság új lehetőségeire: kulcstényezőként megőrizve rálátásukat a hiteles, tudományos igénnyel rendezett gyűjteményre, hozzá igazíthatják azokat korunk tájékozódási, tanulási, szórakozási és kutatási szokásaihoz. A könyvtár és a könyvtárosság jövőjében így a fizikai térben és az online szolgáltatásban is az alkalmazkodás és kísérletezés lesz a meghatározó. A hagyományos szolgáltatások csökkenő helyigénye teret nyit a kreativitásra a közösségi téri funkciók folyamatos újraértelmezéséhez, az adatbázisalapú digitalizált tudás pedig lehetőséget biztosít az online szolgáltatások állandó, alkotó gazdagítására, intézmény- és tudományközi összekapcsolásra vagy a közösségi tudomány és közösségi média lehetőségeinek naprakész felhasználására. A hiteles tudás dinamikus forrásaként a könyvtár, s kreatív munkatársaiként a könyvtárosok így a jövőben is biztosak lehetnek szerepükben a könyv, azaz a tudás őrzőiként.

Abstract

In our dematerializing, virtualizing world, the book remains a symbol of knowledge precisely because there is nothing that can take its place without losing its meaning. In the age of online information, the future of libraries is not assured because their services are tied to the institution, but because the number of places that can serve a community of purpose is shrinking and their diversity is diminishing. In this way, the role of existing cultural, scientific, and memory institutions can be enriched and their role as venues can be strengthened to meet new needs, while at the same time building on new opportunities for networking in their services, which can be provided independently of the location. They can retain a key role in maintaining access to an authentic, scientifically organized collection and adapt it to the way we orientate, learn, entertain and research today. The future of the library and librarianship will therefore be one of adaptation and experimentation, both in physical space and in online services. The diminishing space requirements of traditional services open up room for creativity in the continuous reinterpretation of the functions of the public space, while database-driven digitized knowledge offers the possibility of permanent and creative enrichment of online services, networking between institutions and disciplines, or up-to-date use of the possibilities of social science and social media. As a dynamic source of authentic knowledge, the library and its creative collaborators, the librarians, can thus be assured of their role as custodians of the book, i.e. knowledge, in the future.
